Today’s vehicles come equipped with control units that cannot be swapped to another vehicle. This makes the cost of parts rise dramatically. Even the new parts do not always include software for the vehicle. FORD
Many Ford instrument clusters integrate the PATS security system to the VIN of the vehicle. Replacing this type of cluster from another vehicle will disable the vehicle. It is recommended that the original part be repaired or the vehicle will have to be towed to a Ford dealership for reprogramming. Here is a list of clusters that we repair that integrate PATS:
